Cuba Gooding Jr. headed down divorce path

No one wants to think about the possibility of going through the divorce process. Unfortunately, some couples find themselves in this position. It can be very draining, emotionally and financially. Child custody and visitation, property division and alimony may all play role in a divorce, making even a couple on relatively friendly terms become bitter enemies.

Cuba Gooding Jr., one of the biggest names in Hollywood, is getting ready to go down the divorce path with his wife of 20 years. It was reported that his wife filed for divorce on April 22, 2014.

Complicating matters is the fact that Gooding and his wife have three children together, ages 19, 17, and 8. She has requested joint custody of the three children.

According to documents filed in court, she cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce. While this does not say much about why the two are moving in their separate ways, it is a common reason for filing among Hollywood couples.

The two met as high school students and tied the knot in 1994.

This story is somewhat of a surprise, since Gooding appeared on television last year and took the time to speak about his wife. He said, “I got a wonderful lady that knows how to run the household even when I’m not there. [And] we’re just blessed with wonderful kids.”

While Gooding has yet to discuss the split, like most celebrities divorces there is probably more information to come.

Since3 Gooding is a successful actor and there are children involved, this divorce case could be complicated in more ways than one. To go along with property division issues, there could be child support, child custody and alimony issues to deal with as well.
