The lead singer of As I Lay Dying, a heavy metal rock band, Tim Lambesis, was arrested for allegedly trying to hire an undercover detective to kill his estranged wife. Divorce paperwork showed that while his wife was concerned about custody of the couple’s three adopted children, she did not appear to feel as though she was in any danger. The couple was to meet for mediation in order to discuss child custody.

Lambesis’s wife had filed for divorce last September and the couple had three children they had adopted from Ethiopia. The children are ages four, eight, and 10. According to reports, Lambesis saw the children about ten hours a week when he was not touring with the band.

His wife allegedly said she had noticed changes in his behavior recently and worried about how those changes would affect his ability to be a “stable parent.” She claimed he had fallen asleep with the children near the pool or the beach and he frequently was distracted by his phone while the children were in his care.

The police became aware of the alleged plan to have his wife killed from a “tip.” He was arrested in Oceanside, California while shopping. Authorities from several agencies put together a task force in order to investigate the tip and set up the undercover operation.

As I Lay Dying is a metal rock band, which formed in 2000. The most popular album, “An Ocean Between Us,” is one of six the band released and it had a single on it that was nominated for a Grammy award.
