Driving under the influence of alcohol continues to plague Colorado communities. Law enforcement agencies are cracking down on drunk drivers by increasing patrols and conducting frequent DUI checkpoints. However, when a person is arrested on suspicion of DUI, it can cause a great deal of humiliation and worry.

Recent DUI arrest

Recently in Byers, a man was arrested on DUI charges after crashing his vehicle in a graveyard. The incident happened during the evening hours on East Bates Avenue. According to reports from the Colorado State Patrol, the man was a deputy for the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and crashed into a cemetery, damaging a gravestone.

Reports said the man was suspected of being intoxicated and placed under arrest for DUI by Colorado State Patrol officers. A spokesman for the Adams County Sheriff’s Office said the deputy was placed on restricted duty and his employment status will be determined after the investigations into the matter. After a criminal investigation, the Sheriff’s Office will conduct an internal investigation to determine if internal policy violations happened during the incident, reports said.

Help with DUI defense

Any person who is arrested on DUI charges can potentially face hefty fines and months of jail time if they are convicted. Fortunately, those in Colorado who are facing DUI charges have the right to seek legal representation to help them defend against these charges. Obtaining the services of a skilled and experienced attorney can help those accused achieve the best possible outcome while ensuring that their legal rights are protected.
