Kardashian divorce continues: potential trial looming

On Behalf of | Nov 30, 2012 | Divorce

When a divorce is contested it can span many months and even years before a decision and settlement can be reached. For many Coloradans, this process can be incredibly emotional even while working towards an efficient and agreeable divorce is often the goal. A few months ago we discussed the famed Kim Kardashian/Kris Humphries divorce and how their split has now far surpassed their marriage length. Well, it would appear that they are not done deliberating yet.

Kardashian and Humphries’ respective lawyers met once again this month to discuss the celebrities’ wishes and intentions in their divorce. Having created a prenuptial, one might assume that the divorce would have at least some things going smoothly, but the more bumpy aspects, shall we say, are causing much distress for the parties involved. Kardashian even reportedly stated that she felt “handcuffed” to her former husband. The two parties are to be able to show their readiness for the next step in this process – a trial – come February, should they not be able to resolve the matter otherwise.

There are many different factors to weigh in the process; including children, assets, parenting time and spousal support. For each one of these, having a plan for the deliberation and working toward that with the help of an attorney could help the course move more quickly. Options such as divorce mediation and a postnuptial can also help to reevaluate the priorities between spouses if they are not making much headway.

For Colorado residents dealing with a cumbersome divorce that has become lengthy, understanding what different ways to achieve your goals may be able to give some relief. While they may not all be the likes of the Kardashian/Humphries divorce, any divorce can certainly cause as much strife and difficulty as you begin to move on with your life.
