Cannon-Carey divorce rumors swirl as separation is confirmed

One of the major divorce rumors that has been swirling around in the celebrity world recently is that of Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey. The couple, which married in 2008, have rumored to be on the brink of divorce. Recently, Cannon confirmed that he and Carey have been living separately for “a few months” and that there is “trouble in paradise.”

Whether this ultimately leads to a divorce or not is yet to be seen. Cannon and Carey have two children together, so there could be child custody and support discussions to be had should they choose to separate. Also, considering their wealth, there could be some complex property and asset division discussions on the horizon for Cannon and Carey.

However, this story is really noteworthy for the separation that Cannon and Carey are currently enduring. Many couples all across the country are currently legally separated, and it serves as a reminder for married couples who are going through a tough time that there is a middle step you can try before taking the ultimate step in divorce.

Legal separation gives the couple a chance to live apart and consider all of the matters that are important to them in their marriage (and potential divorce). They can decide if they prefer to be on their own, or if they don’t like it so much and would like to change course on the potential divorce.

Legal separation can be a very helpful (and important) tool when a married couple is considering divorce.
