Terrence Williams, a guard/forward with the Boston Celtics, was arrested on the afternoon of May 19 in connection with a domestic violencee case that allegedly involved a firearm. According to police in Kent, Washington, they responded to the home of a woman who is the mother of William’s 10-year-old son.
Williams was reportedly at the woman’s house to exchange custody of the boy from a scheduled visitation when an argument ensued. Some media reports allege the exchange of custody took place at a parking lot and this is where the altercation happened.
According to police, the woman reported Williams pulled a gun out and waved it around during the argument. He also allegedly made threats towards her, then got in his car and left. Police said they located Williams later in the afternoon and he was arrested. The charges against him are not known at this time.
Williams played part of the 2012-13 season for the Chinese Basketball Association, but signed with the Celtic in February. He was chosen by the Brooklyn Nets in the 2009 draft and went on to also play for the Rockets and Kings. He frequently spoke about his upbringing in poverty. His father was murdered in 1993 just hours after he was released from jail. Williams was only 13 at the time. His mother has also spent time in jail.
It is not known if there is a bond set yet for Williams or when he will appear in court.
