We’ve talked before about the importance of raising awareness and prevention methods of domestic violence. It’s such a grave and complex subject that it’s often regarded with a tendency toward the worst possible situations. As serious as we must take the most horrible of domestic violence cases, it is just as important to be mindful of any and every circumstance wherein domestic violence takes place.
Coloradans may have heard about the recent stabbing that occurred in a Fremont County home earlier this week. There was reportedly an argument between a couple, resulting in the man’s wife then injuring him via a very literal stabbing in his back. She is said to have run over to her neighbor’s home, requesting assistance and explaining the situation. Said neighbor then helped transport the stabbing victim to the waiting authorities and emergency medical personnel.
It is believed that the neither the injuries this woman nor the ones her husband sustained will cause loss of life. Her minor injuries were reported to have been from the fight as well. Officials have said there is to be an investigation into the matter of domestic violence and second-degree assault regarding this woman. Her husband may wish to file a civil suit of domestic violence against his wife or look into restraining orders should this dispute have led him to believe his home is unsafe.
Though this situation may seem bizarre on some level, it highlights the importance of knowing how to react when things get out of hand. It’s easy to get into an argument, but not as easy to get out of a situation where those arguments become dangerous.
