Kim who? If you thought the Kardashian marriage was quick, she's got nothing on singer Sinead O'Connor. The singer has called an end to her marriage after only 16 days with her new husband.
The couple announced their engagement on Dec. 7 and got married in the back of a pink Cadillac in Las Vegas the following day, according to the Washington Post. The impending divorce comes after conflict within the man's close circle and a strange wedding night quest, the singer says in a recent blog post on her website.
While the split is apparently amicable, O'Connor says it was partially caused by "certain people" in her husband's life who disapproved of the marriage. She notes that having him stay would be "losing too much to bear" and that she just wants him to be happy.
She also says she may have erred in a quest on her wedding night to acquire some marijuana, explaining that she wanted it because she doesn't drink. "My husband was enormously wounded and very badly affected by the experience," she says on the blog.
The singer, whose past odd behavior has included an infamous appearance on "Saturday Night Live" in which she ripped up a picture of the pope, has been married three times before.
This time, she apparently had a quick inkling that things weren't going to work out. She says the conflict began a mere three hours after the ceremony. Still, the Washington Post notes, she says she is happy and asks for privacy for her soon-to-be-ex-spouse.
