Child custody battles can get contentious, but one couple took that to an extreme recently. Amid the messy child custody dispute, a woman apparently created a fake Facebook account to catch her ex-husband in a lie. It worked at first, but the tables were later turned.
The 29-year-old woman reportedly created a Facebook account for a fake 17-year-old girl with the phony name “Jessica Studebaker” and then friended her ex-spouse. She apparently initiated an online conversation with him with the hope of producing evidence that he is an unfit father.
Her ex-husband apparently told the phantom Facebook friend that he had put a GPS tracking device in his ex-wife’s car in order to monitor her. The woman then gave that information to authorities, and the 38-year-old man was arrested by the FBI. But he had a surprise for all involved.
The man revealed he knew that “Jessica Studebaker” was his ex-wife all along. To prove it, he provided a notarized affidavit stating as such. It was reportedly dated May 25 – before any incriminating conversation took place.
According to reports, authorities never did find a GPS device in the woman’s car. Her ex-husband was allegedly held in jail for five days before being release, in spite of the new evidence.
According to WSBT TV’s website, he planned to use how she “tampered” with his life in court. Even though he has offers to appear on programs such as ’20/20′ to discuss the case, he says he’s most interested in the well-being of his children.
