Child custody cases are sometimes challenging

On Behalf of | Oct 7, 2016 | Child Custody & Parenting Time

Absent parents were our topic last week. This is something that many parents have to deal with. Trying to help their child cope with the absent parent can be challenging. But, there is something even more challenging — helping the child to cope with the situation if the other parent comes back into the picture.

We know that you don’t want your children having to deal with the limbo and uncertainty that comes with having a parent in and out of their life. As difficult as it is, you will still have to abide by the most current version of the child custody order. That is true even if it means having to tell your child to go with a parent who hasn’t been around for months.

It is understandable that you might be concerned about what will happen if the other parent pops back up. In some case, you might be able to seek out a child custody modification that would limit the visitation of an absent parent. This isn’t always a sure thing, so you have to make sure that you know your rights and responsibilities when it comes to these matters.

We are here to help you learn about the legal points that pertain to your case. From there, we can try to help you determine how your case will be impacted by these. Once we know that, we can help you to take the action that you decide you want to take so that you can move toward getting your child the stability he or she needs.
